Hi all.
My question, (questions) are geared towards lube. I've done much searching in the past few weeks and found the answers to most all my queries, but I am having a hard time to find definitive answers concerning lube for a springer. Right now, specifically for the Phantom .22.
I've had everything tore apart, de-burred, polished, cleaned to my satisfaction for a few days now...
So what I'm asking here is...what's the consensous for pre-lubing the compression tube? A very light coat of 20 or 30 weight ND oil? Moly grease? Moly grease/oil mixture? Certainly not dry, right?
While I'm at it, what's everyones liking for lubing the seal? Moly grease? Oil? Or a mixture?
Thanx in advance! |

Less lube is better than too much.
Just assembled an old TO1 Diana 34 yesterday with a Tesla and GRT spring. Velocity tar on the spring and a dab of moly paste on the piston.
Now shooting over 800fps with 12grain Hobby and 760fps with H&N Trophy. No lube in the chamber during assembly. |

I'll go along with what 23ib0d0n says with just a dab of moly on the rear of the piston seal/bearing.
BTW welcome to the site sledman

Just wanted to say I have it back together and working great! Very pleased with the results. Looking forward to putting it to use in the near future.
Thanks to all the pages and posts from the members here on AirGunHome.com! Had they not been so imformative and explanatory I would not have tackled my first tune. I'm a happy camper!! |
