Can anyone tell me anything about a couple brands of pellets I just picked up?

They are both made in England- the first ones are called "Champion Alouette" .177 pellets. "Heavyweight, Field Special Lubricated round nosed pellets" is on the tin. Other than that, just 'Made in England'.

The second bunch are "Eagle gold" .177 pellets "High Performance Match Type Lubricated Pellets" and are made by L.J. Cammell (Meyerside) Ltd., England.

The Champion Alouettes have a proper Diabolo skirt with a pattern on them- the Eagle gold have a Diabolo skirt- but no grooves at all- completely smooth. Also- the Champions come in a red plastic "tin" which bleeds red ink all over my hands!

Anyone know anything about either of these pellets and how they perform?

Eric This is a Champion pellet I'm not sure if it is a "Alouette" or not as I used the red plastic container for a pellet loader, it is a .177 and weights 7.7g and is a bit roughly made and no two pellets go in the same direction twice, they tend to be sold in general sporting shops as airgun dealers are a bit more descerning. $4.00 for 500, the container is a good buy. Smile

As for the "Eagle gold" .177 pellets I haven't seen that make.

Thanks for the info Al. The 'Alouette' pellets do have grooves on the skirt- but they are otherwise similar to the one you posted. Yes, they were cheap- thus why I thought I might try them out.

I'll post a picture of everything when I'm back at my home (on the road at the moment)...

Hi Eric I was over in Boston (UK) today and went in to the shop where I bought thoses Champion pellets from, I asked if he had any diffrent types of Champion pellets in stock, he told me that was all he sold but they did other types. Heres some photos of Champion pellets I have picked up on the net in the UK.
BTW I think "Eagle gold" are made by the same people who make the Champion, have a look at the lid on the blue tin.

On another pellet subject have a look at these, a Sabot pellet looks quite leathal.

I like those saboted boat tails. What are they called,
what do they weigh and of what material are they
constructed?

Hi CW all I know about these pellets is that they are no longer available, Which is a pity they might have been quite usefull.
What they are made of I don't really know, but I would think the sabot is plastic and the projectile copper?
