I cleaned my B26 last night with Goo Gone and ran a bunch of dry patches thru until it was clear. It only had moly in the barrel from a recent tune I did. I shot it about 20 minutes later and BOOM! It sounded like a centerfire rifle! Needless to say, I waited for the cops to come. Fortunately (?!?!?) in South Miami, gunfire is commonplace! Didn't know goo gone had such explosive potential! My POI dropped an inch and a half at 10 yards. The shots after that were normal. Don't know if there is any damage, just crossing my fingers and praying. Just thought I would share this with you guys as a warning!

Well- I guess you found out the hard way "Goo Gone" must have petroleum distillates in it!
If it only detonated/dieseled once- you're probably ok. If it cocks normally and you don't hear anything funky while cocking it- about the only thing that might be damaged is the piston seal. |

| I had a friend with a HW57, and 3 out of 5 shots went BANG! I high and sneery bang too. It kind of blew open the pellet insert, allthough it didn't break it. A rather strange experience. |

...with undersized
crosman premeir hollowpoints. Last year when I was breaking in a newly tuned R7. I had an undersized pellet drop thru the barrel and fired it with no pellet. miked the pellet and it was 176 cal. Be careful guys! I think the same happened again, I was using the same kind of pellets! Anyone heard of this happening? |

Of course mis-sized pellets do occur occasionally- I had an entire batch of Crosman .177 Superpoints that were crap: http://www.airgunhome.com/agforum/viewtopic.php?t=595

I haven't heard much about the Hollow Point Crosman's in .22 having issues, their .177s seem to be more prone to errors than anything.
If anyone wasn't aware- Crosman's been cranking up the price of their pellets over the last 2 months, although it has not filtered into all the retail outlets yet (large inventories to deplete I would think). If their price increases are too much, I think they will pay for it in large lost business numbers, especially if their QC gets any worse. |
