Afriend of mine has family that own a bit of acreage near the New Jersey Pine Barrens. On Sunday we went to a family farm first, where we sat in the cold and saw nothing for about an hour and half. We then moved to another yard, where once the temp rose a few degrees, the squirrels were on the move!

Here I am with the first squirrel of the day.

We saw at least 8 squirrel, but only took two. Ranges were all a lot closer than I'm used to, and iron sights probably would have served us better on this hunt. Also, both squirrel were taken out of trees, where I usually try to only take them while they're on the ground (less worry about where misses/overpenetrations go. I was using my Crosman "Vantom," now in .22 cal, and my friend was using my Hatsan Striker Edge in .22. It was a great hunt, and I think I've made an air gunner of my buddy, who said he wants to go out again soon!

Any other variety of game you can hunt there?

Very nice! I wouldn't worry too much about misses and overpenning the guys in the trees- I doubt a pellet has much gas by the time it would come back down. I haven't heard any of my neighbors squalling, anyway. lol

AirgunEric: as airgun hunting goes, we're allowed only rabbit and squirrel. My friend hunts larger game (turkey, deer, etc) at both his family locations.

Toadmyster: my concern isn't related to possible pellet damage, as much as the panic often caused in New Jersey by the realization that "there's a guy with what looks like a gun in the woods across the street from my house!"
Gun paranoia is such here that the next time some idiot sees damage to his house/car/pink flamingo lawn decorations, he's calling the cops and blaming "those kooks with guns!" I'd like to avoid that nonsense if possible.
