I want to start shooting filipino dump rats whilst there on vacation.

OK, my wife is filipina, and we go to the Philippines every year for vacation now. I can't purchase a firearm there as i'm not a PI citizen, so i give my friends/relatives the money and they buy them (gifts mostly that i hope to use while i'm there). Airgun shooting/hunting is actually quite popular over there, and as a dyed-in-the-wool varminter i'm dying to shoot rats at the dumps there. It oughtta' be a target rich environment im thinking. I'm hoping to be able to get this air pistol whilst there, and take a scope/barrel mount over as a gift to relatives again--

Refer to bottom gun.

I may have to just wing this one myself as i'm not even sure it's legal to take gun-associated "things" eover there on the plane. Looking into that now. Am just wondering if this is going to be a good pistol/scope setup for shooting dump rats over there, and if i should just get them a 22 rifle for this and other shooting?? It's been a long time since i've shot them and it was with a 22 pistol at the time. Any ideas/comments are appreciated. Thanks guys.

There are no specifications listed for the pistol- i.e. velocity. It could be shooting 250fps- which is going to mean little power and a very short shooting range. Can you find more detailed specifications?

Check the following link; this guy (?) seems to know what he's talking about in relation to this matter:
