caught this a few weeks ago

I shot this opposum a few weeks ago with my diana 350 magnum smoothe bore in .177.It was a head shot from about twenty yards away and up a tree.

Haha, as an American, I feel bad for those possums. They are pretty cute compared to our American possums! Great shot though, good kill, and a nice rifle to boot!

How do you prepare them (to eat)? In the southern states of the United States, possums are consumed and you can even find them in some restaurants, but I never knew how they were prepared.

Well we roast them to get the hair off ,when the hair is gone we wash them out thoroughly. The next step is removing the musk glands which are located at the base of the legs on the belly and below the neck,then gut it like normal and cut it up.Its then washed with limes or lemmons before we season it. Seasoning consists of thymes,onions,garlic,chives,cilantro,culantro and any other herb or spice you choose.Traditionally its stewed and served with rice or dumplings.

That sounds delicious. American possums usually get spoiled due to a poor diet of garbage and very rotten things, haha.
