Got my limit again today, this time 4 Franklin's and 1 Ruffed Grouse.... I used only 5 pellets for the day, and less than 200 psi of air....

From left to right, female Franklin's, two young males and a large male, and a young female Ruffed grouse.... The big Franklin's was doing an awesome display right in the middle of the road, challenging me.... Unfortunately for him, he didn't know I had a 25 yard reach.... His tail is still fanned out, and you can see the red comb over his eye if you look close.... We saw one other Ruffie running through cover while we were hunting, and two more on the way home after I got my limit.... I still haven't seen a Dusky (Blue) Grouse yet, although one of our guests got two this morning....

Nice shooting! Which rifle did you use to bag em?

Impressive! Did it start out as CO²?

What is the fill pressure of it?

It uses a tube from a 2260 and a valve from a Disco, but has been HPA since first assembly.... It fills to 2000 psi and shoots down to 1100 and gets 16 shots at 700 fps with 18 gr. JSB (20 FPE).... The stock is modified from a Crosman skeleton stock.... I have been using it for 3 seasons now, the first season it was a single shot, the version in the photo was an 8-shot repeater but manually indexed, using a clip from an RWS 850, and it now has yet another breech using the self-feeding clip from a PRod.... I don't plan any further changes, it accounted for 35 Grouse last year....

How much does it weigh. I have a 10 year old daughter sitting next to me
that is in love with it. Would it be too heavy for her and do you think that it
would make a good pistol sans stock? She wants a PCP pistol with a bi-pod.

She always wants a bi-pod on everything.

Yeah but from the picture the stock likes look it has an adjustable cheekpiece. Does it?

I thought Grouse were much bigger.

I'm guessing about 5 lbs, it's pretty light.... and yes, you could put pistol grips on it, but in Canada it would then be a restricted firearm.... The cheekpiece is not adjustable, the carbon tube risers are glued in.... I also shortened the LOP at the same time....

The grouse in that photo are a mostly spruce grouse (Franklin's) and a young ruffed grouse, so yes, they are pretty small.... Adult ruffies are about twice the weight of those, and an adult blue grouse twice that again.... the size of a small chicken.... Here is the breast of a blue grouse....

From the picture it looks the perfect size for a ten year old.

Sweet! Better than something raised in a building by far.
