Hi, I am hoping there is a member who could give me information about an air pistol that a family member left me in their will. There is no maker name. I have searched the net, and only found a picture of a Swiss Tell 1, which is quite similar. I have attached a pic. Thanks very much!

Are there any markings at all? Are there screw holes or witness marks that might indicate it had a trigger guard at one time?

It certainly looks like a Tell 1. The length is right, and there were apparently (at least) two versions made:

If it were me, I would go down to the public library and ask if they can find a copy of "The Blue Book Of Airgun Values" through interlibrary loan (no cost). Failing that, I would buy the online subscription and risk paying $30.00 to possibly find nothing:

Thanks Slavia, I'll try my local library. I can't see any obvious marks, but I have compared it to the pistol in the link you gave me. My pistol is .22 cal, smooth barrel. There are no holes or marks for a trigger guard, or any trace that sights were ever fitted. It is fully nickel plated. Could it be possible that the company accepted private commission's?

Comparing those images it seems the trigger is a different style.

Yes, I agree. I have played spot the difference between the picture's. The body, barrel and grip do look identical. Unless another maker has copied the design, I can only assume my pistol is derived from the Tell 1. I visited the library, but they were of no help. I think I'll have to try another or just wrap up the pistol and pack it away. As the internet hasn't thrown up any other leads, I'm at a dead end. Thanks very much for all your help, a great site!
