I have a schimmel gp22 that needs to be re-sealed. all the metal parts are there. The barrel is not seized up or anything. I have been having a problem with a repair guy and when I get it back from him I will either sell it or try again to get it fixed.

One of the Schimels just sold on Gun Broker.com today

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=186120318

I still have not got my Schimel back from gunsmith "X" I will not post the name of the shop in case they can actually fix it. It has been over a year.

Not exactly a common gun. Parts ready-made, hah!

You need to find someone who specializes in custom work, or at least someone who has been forced to find solutions where a ready-made part is not available.

I hope it will be an awesome gun for me. It is a .22 with CO2 power.
I understand it shoots .22 lead balls best.

I think it is 55 years old.

I'm 50 and I still shoot.

Still no word on my Schimel re-seal.
I wish I had walked it into a repair shop near me so I could walk in and get my gun back.
I am at the mercy of the repair center which is in another state.
Not a nearby state

I feel for you- really.

On the other side of this coin, sometimes repair work, especially that which involves more work than expected or custom parts to be fabricated will gum up the system. However, that is no excuse if you have asked it to be shipped back unrepaired.

To be fair I asked to get the gun back and the repair guy said "let me give it a try" . So I asked him to keep trying.

I have not insisted that it be sent back.

It is a work in progress.

If anybody cares I asked the airgun repair center to send my gun back un repaired.

If it is impossible to re seal a Schimel why do they still get $200 for them on GunBroker.Com?

I am determined to get the thing fixed.

I am willing to take suggestions.

I am willing to try to fix it myself.

It likely can be re-sealed, but genuine, OEM parts are not likely to be found. You need to take it apart/have someone familiar with airguns take it apart and see what can be used. There will be a solution- the question is 'how complicated?'.

The most skilled airgun repairer I know is in Canada.... You can find him on the Canadian Airgun Forum under the handle "Suprmatic" and his name is Len.... He has made all sorts of custom parts to repair older guns.... and in fact I think that is his specialty....

If you have no other solution, you might consider contacting him.... His feedback on the forum is 100%.... Tell him I sent you.... Wink

I'll let you know.
The service center is responsive about the repair and how long it has been.

If it takes 2 weeks more I would be satisfied.

If I get the gun back (un repaired) I will send it to you.
Is there a problem sending an airgun to Canada from the U.S. ?

I know it is worth $200 in the current state. I would guess it would be worth 3 to 4 hundred working. I am not in it for the money...I want to shoot it and preserve it for my kids. (some day)

I have received lots of guns from US and I guess we do have some funny laws. The problem comes when the border gaurds think they know better than the laws and confiscate stuff just because they can.I am sure these guns shoot less thn 500fps,and so there is no law preventing it.But having said that,if it was my gun there is always a small chance of it being confiscated,I probably wouldn't send it.If you want, email me at
pabirdman@shaw.ca
and I will give you details of where to get seal kit,and I will walk you through replacement procedure, but contact me as there are things to check before ordering seals.Glen

Now Mr. Shabby Fake Airgun - Smith does not answer my E-Mails.
I contact him about once a month.
I suppose I will call his house... Look at the useless excuses he sends me...

For example:

Hello Mr. Cooper, April 28/2010
No problem here. I understand. I should keep you updated but I work
alone and it is hard to contact everyone as I am working on many airguns at
this time. Feel free to contact me when you want. Hope to have it ready
soon. Thanks for you patience. Have a great day.
