I've only lived in the area where I am for a couple years- so I went looking awhile back and could only find one in a 50-mile radius. They were all about firearms, more firearms, and nothing but firearms- no airguns and no plans for such any time soon... |

Yes I am very lucky in that I have a club 5 five from my house. The club has existed since 1930 and was therefore Grandfathered in when the area was developed. It is listed as a Wildlife Preserve and the person that donated the land had previsions in the contact that protects the usage of his land.
Club shoots everything from Air Rifles up to Centerfire Pistols. It has an Air Rifle League with several members. I am trying to get a Hunter Field Target league restarted so I can use my Gamo Shadow 1000 (only air rifle) since it is over the FPS limit for the Indoor Target League. |

Why is there an FPS limit for the indoor target league? I have some ideas, but am curious what the "official" line is on this.
And, Welcome to AirGunHome.com! |

My guess? Maybe because they adopted the National 3-Position Council's rules, rather than re-invent the wheel. Sporter class is 600 FPS or less:

I do belong to a gun club. We have a trap range, a 60 yard archery range (bales every 10), a 50 yard pistol range (a simple pit), a 50 yard smallbore range (berms at 25 and 50), and a 500 yard rifle range (berms every 100). $30.00 USD per year, and they give me a key so I can go any time I choose. 3 miles from my house. There are 5 other ranges within a 25 mile radius - one has a 10m indoor airgun range, but the membership fee is too steep for me.
People look at me like I'm from another planet when I shoot 100 yards with an airgun, but I'm treated no differently than any other shooter with regards to safety and courtesy. |

Thanks for the welcome and to answer you question: 500 fps or below. The reason is that they shoot indoors and stated that the back stop could not handle anything higher. |

Absolutely no interest in airguns in clubs around my place. They do have the indoor facility but its for the smallbore 22lr. They usually can setup an airgun match if interest warrants.. but usually there is no interest. |

We thought about it and now we have our own range and it's open for the public. We even have a 600sqf class room, now we can run course and leagues year round. |
