Okay... so I had a little left over 1377 barrel from a cut down... & the "Flames" were tickling my brain again... So I custom spun a extended barrel for my 1088.... (extra 2") but, no... I could not stop there... So I made a nice Muzzle Brake for it... The regular round brakes just would not do... So I spun one out of 1" and used the horizontal saw blade in my drill press with they XY vice to slice off the sides & cut the groves... It will get anodized black with the next batch... Much more accurate for such a short gun... Just can't use bb's in it any more. The 1377 has heavier rifling 20 yard steel targets any one??? _________________ Say "NO" to BB Gun Wars... But other than than the two are the same. Did you have to add anything to the barrel before you put the rail on top? Most inportant... I used a steel backing plate inside of the housing that I drilled & taped for the rail. The plastic is just too thin to hold any kind of optics with out it. The barrel is one piece. It was left over's from a 24" 1760SE barrel that I cut down to 18" for a custom 1377. Looks like I should have taken photos while I had it apart... Sorry... I turned down the 5.75" section on my lathe to match the soda straw size barre of the 1088. Then left what was going to extend beyond the muzzle of the 1088 the same size so I could attach a Muzzle Brake... Any way you look at it... it requires that you take the gun apart. Watch out for fast flying springs... There are a few that will launch on disassembly and are a pain to get back in. _________________ Say "NO" to BB Gun Wars... Even with the contour matching the muzzle... I have to put a pin in the brake and a hole in the plastic muzzle to keep it from rotating... the barrel floats and does not stay clocked... _________________ Say "NO" to BB Gun Wars... Your making me wanna go out and get a lathe now!!! As if I don't have enough tools to buy for my weld shop! Seriously though, now have TWO harbor frieghts near my house. They have the micro and two sized mini lathes... Before I buy one is there an idiots guide to using these things? Or is just a matter of messing with them a bit? (Reading those funny things call "instructions" also helps!) That just inspired about something else... But I won't hijack your thread about your 1088. Makes me wish I hadn't messed mine up! (Lost some parts while messing with a valve tuning job.) So, I'll post my inspiration in a different thread! You will want something bigger than the 7x10... I just pooped another $190.00 for the bed extention... littlemachineshop.com is a great resource on tips, tricks and tooling... I have a whole bunch of other links in my Favs... email me sometime and I will share... You can get away with murder on a decent drill press and some non standard tooling... Steve at Auburn Tool has the goodies to make the drill press do things you probably shouldn't or at least your shop teacher would kick you out of the class for doing... _________________ Say "NO" to BB Gun Wars... I've done some weird stuff with the drill press, a X/Y vise, and those little Dremel side cutter bits. Having said that, a drill press can't replace an end mill in all applications. You also have to completely think through your procedure, and everything has to be rock solid. Then have the patience for a snail's pace feed rate. A hacksaw and a file work pretty good, too. It also depends on the operator.
