I have to have hot sauce on almost everything too. It's usually Tabasco. |

I occasionally make a soup from whatever I've frozen...left overs. Sausage, beef, chicken...vegetables of many types...base it in chicken or beef broth. It usually comes out really good (use garlic, onion various peppers to taste). the only problem is that if you get an exceptionally good batch...you can never repeat it. |

If you get the chance, check out the new Chipotle Tabasco. Not as hot as the original red, kinda smokey, and way flavorful. |

Is it pure (peppers, vinegar and salt), or does it have crap (gar gum,
coloring, stabilizers, natrual flavoring (MSG), etc...) in it? |

"Ingredients: chipotle pepper, distilled vinegar, water, salt, sugar, onion powder, garlic powder, spices, natural flavor, TABASCO Brand Pepper Pulp (distilled vinegar, red pepper, salt." Nothing I can't pronounce. |

SUGAR! Why on earth would they put sugar in hot sauce?
Natural flavors (usually MSG), that leaves me out. I don't do
neurotoxins. |

It would be odd, sugar kills the burn of most peppers. it's the one way to help. Most of us snatch up a glass of water and wash the pepper oil around our mouths, spreading the burn. A little sugar will kill it. |

In small quantities, sugar develops the taste of other ingredients like peppers and tomatoes. I put a tablespoon in a couple of gallons of my red pasta meat sauce and some other soups and sauces. It's a common and good when appropriate culinary practice.
Monosodiumglutamate is not a natural flavor and I think they have to say MSG if they put MSG in. The stuff makes me dizzy and I avoid it like the plague.
I was impressed at the lack of common preservatives. I think the stuff is great. If you don't want to try something new, that's fine, but spare me the "neurotoxins". Beer's got more neurotoxins that Tabasco Chipotle hot sauce. Think I'll have me one or two. |

One of my kids was alergic to msg so i've avoided it for years, and now my wife is diabetic, so, no sugar. Salt and spices (various peppers, onion, garlic, all get a workout.) My wife is bed fast, so i do the cooking here. I have always enjoyed that, it's the clean up i hate! |

Well, thanks to the current administration, natrual flavor/s can
mean almost anything, including, and most likely a glutimate.
Such as autolized protein from an animal or vegatable source
(usually yeast). MSG has been around for years and was used
by the Chinese (made from sea kelp) centuries ago.
When it was first introduced into the US, one of it's first uses
was to make lab mice fat for obesity studys where portly mice
were of benefit. The big food corporations jumped on it and had it
classified as a flavor enhancer after it was found out that it made
people keep eating more after they were full.
Some people, myself included, have bad reactions to it. It makes my ears
ring so bad that I have trouble getting any sleep. it gives my wife and 5
year old daughter splitting headaches.
How do I know this? In my youth I studied to become a food
additive chemist for a few years. It's very surprising what the big
food machine is allowed to put in the unsuspecting public's food.
Check out the latest neurotoxin, Splenda. it is a chlorinated hydrocarbon
very similar to hornet spray. Mammals should not ingest chloronated
hydrocarbons. Humans are mammals.
In the end, it's all about the money.
Is all this is making you hungry yet.
Later, I'm out. |

Damn you, man! I was living in blissful ignorance, thank-you very much.
Now I'm going to have to start shooting tree rats too... |

That's ok so long as you don't exceed the number of rodent hairs the FDA allows in food. |

Well thank God CW did not become a Rocket Scientist... We would all be learning about Propulsion using Hydrogen tonight...
Sometimes I am glad I don't know what might kill me...
BTW... I have to agree with you CW... I was going to comment on the whole "Natural Flavors" code for MSG's... It does the same crap to Kristen that it does to your wifey...
Did you vacuum tonight?
I did... But I had a good excuse...
We installed double hinges on doors so she could get her power chair down the hall and arround into some of the rooms Also some grab handles in the bathrooms. |
