I live in Canada, ontario to be exact..Anyway I bought the Benjamin Trail Nitro Piston. The one I bought shoots at 495 FPS. The same rifle in USA shoots at almost 900. Whats the difference between the 2? I do have my PAL so will modifying this rifle be against the law in Canada?

It probably has a vented piston. So plugging the vent hole in the stock piston or putting in a nonvented piston should get it up to a usable speed.

The gas strut in the "detuned" version also has a lower fill pressure.

Any springer disassembly guide will work, there is nothing particularly different about the Trail- it is the same platform as the Crosman Quest, Phantom, the BAM B18/B19 and so on.

For parts to bring the power up in Canada: http://scopesandammo.com/storefront/product_info.php/benjamin-trailcrosman-nitro-venomlegacy-shockey-repair-kit-p-837

However, under Canadian law, you would be creating a "firearm" out of things- which requires a license (legally-speaking).

A good/almost required upgrade is the trigger: http://scopesandammo.com/storefront/product_info.php/gtx-gen-ii-trigger-for-b18crosmangamo-and-more-p-242

to replace the sloppy factory unit.

Yes. The OEM trigger is very hard to be accurate with. Also, the GTX II trigger is far superior to the Charley tuna one.

Haha fighting the trigger in my Titan has made me a much better shooter. I've thought about an upgrade, but I think it would take half the fun out of my gun.

is it 177? or 22?

i have the 22 and after installing all new seals, honing the cylinder and installing custom brass pivot washers, it chronos only 660 fps using crosman premier HP pellets...even that would put you over the canadian reg of 12 fpe.

my point? i don't believe any 'advertised' fps by manufacturers

Dcw: you may have a gotten a (new) bad seal, it has happened to me. My .22 Trail NP is pushing CP 14.3 domes at an average of almost 748 FPS, that with a loose, crappy barrel. Might want to check your seal and make sure it didn't get cut going back in.

I find it's usually safe to cut Crosman velocity claims by at least 200 FPS (.177), usually more (in .22).

Wow lots of great replies here..I managed to find a breakdown of the American rifle. Id love to see the exact same breakdown for the Canadian version, that way I could understand what parts to order. Like I said before I do have my PAL or FAC so I wont be breaking any sort of laws. Thanks to all for what info they have provided so far. Funny thing is I just setup my trigger and I have it firing right at the wall right where I like it. So I doubt ill change much there

Just order the kit from Scopes and Ammo it's all there so you won't go wrong and its good to have spare seals if you don't need to replace them right away.

Sorry man, I read your post but somehow didn't absorb the part about you being in Canada. I guess the velocities you're getting are about right for a 12 ftlb gun?
