Last night NOT ONE KID rang our doorbell, which was probably due to threatening weather, and the fact that we live in a rural high desert area with no street lighting, although our house lights were on.

BUT THIS IS GREAT, because now all that candy is for ME! All those crunchy Kit-Kat bars, all those Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, all those
Almond Joy, Hershey, and Baby Ruth bars...all for ME!

Cheers,
WADCUTTER

I dunno, one kid at Halloween seems a bit disappointing.

I guess you can drown your sorrows in all that candy...

HEY ERIC,

You misread my post... I didn't say "one kid", I said "NOT one kid"!

What sorrow? I enjoyed the evening and will enjoy all those sweets to come!

I think the trick-or-treating of my youth has been replaced by organized community center and shopping mall events. Still, just in case kids stop by you are really obligated to lay in an ample supply of candy. Of course, the left overs will spoil by next year, so it's your duty to finish it off. I'm going now to find my wife's stash.

I hear ya talkin', Mr. Moderator!

In my youth (1940's and into the 50's), we actually used to supply the "tricks" in trick-or-treating...tricks such as mild property damage, firecrackers, burning rubber around corners, etc.

Today's chaperoned kids say "trick or treat" without really knowing what it means!

Cheers,
WADCUTTER

Juvenile terrorism, extortion, and vandalism - ah, the good 'ole days. I read somewhere that Halloween has edged out Valentine's Day for the #2 spot in retail value (behind Christmas). Chalk up another extinction to the gods of capitalism's dark side.

Trick or Treating as now spread over here to the UK now. (thank you very much I don’t Think)
There nothing better than a load of vandals, it has even just about replaced our traditional Guy Fawkes night celebrations. (Nov 5th). The thing is that there is no money to be made from, Guy Fawking by the supermarkets, but Halloween is a different matter they sell everything.

I think we will have to bring Guy Fawkes back with a vengeance and burn down the Bloody supermarkets.
A very disgruntled Al

Just put the Guy effigy on top of the store and you're set. Do English supermarkets have little rooms underneath?
