Hi,
I have an indoor BB gun trap for low powered bb rifles. Just a deep cardboard box with old phone books inside, backed by some blue insulation board (styrofoam).

OK, now I bought a pellet pistol, and the f.p.s. right now is measured as only 353, pretty slow.

You think the BB trap will do for a pellet pistol indoors (it is a precharged .22 pellet pistol, an old Crossman 160 made about 65 years ago or so, about 1953.

Which type of pellet penetrates less, a wadcutter?

Hi, for that power level using wadcutter’s at a phone book should be ok, you could try old bits of carpet stacked in the back, these work well.

We use steel backing in our target boxes. Wadcutters will flatten out on them.
