First off it's Bob's fault! Laughing

My FD PCP is on the way shipped on Monday, currently in OH, on it's way to me in VA. Plan to start with the basics, clean up the trigger, adjust the power to hopefully around Bob's area, and add the o-ring mod. Going for that sweet 20 shot string. Currently looking for some glass to at least get started, want a mil dot, but found a Simmons 2-9 X 50 with a 30 30 reticle for less than $50.00 which would keep the cost of the whole rifle below $200.00. I'll post some picks, and updates after it arrives, and I get some pics, and work on the tune.

Finally arrived yesterday afternoon. First off didn't even check the pressure, but fired three shots just to verify everything was in good order to get started. Rifle is loud at this point, so I hooked up my Benji pump and filled it to the recommended 1500 PSI. Got a 20 shot string that started at 599, peaked at 785, and ended at 760. The first 10 shots averaged 661 for 17.54 ft.lbs. Shots 11 - 20 averaged 771 for 23.89 ft.lbs. So right out of the box Mike has done some adjusting from the first batches apparently. By the way the first 10 shots were fairly quiet, but the second 10 were considerably louder, for those who can the rifle could use a nice hush device. A quick check and Mike at TKO can assist. Next I opened up the rifle, and got into the trigger. Polished the trigger and sear, clipped the trigger pull weight spring two coils, and made the first adjustment for the sear. This was a big improvement for the trigger which was long and heavy. Ended up adjusting the sear down to where Bob mentioned in his very detailed write up, about 1/16" give or take. Adjusted the power all the way in, then backed it out two full turns. The gun wouldn't cock, so I backed it out about a 1/4 turn give or take a little, until it would cock again. I'll post the new numbers as soon as I get outside and run another string or two. Also need to go out to the auto parts store and pick up some 113 o-rings to try and flatten out the string just like Bob did. I would love to get the 18 - 20 shots per fill like Bob did with his.

After the above adjustments, I shot a 20 shot string with an average energy of 22 ft.lbs. This string started with a 1300 PSI fill ending at 700 PSI using JSB 18.1's. This rifle really like the JSB's as it printed all 20 shots within a 1/2" ragged hole at the 26 yards I had setup to shoot today. Seems to hold pretty well at 43 yards as well, just started running out of day light. Had to mow, and such, hope to try some groups tomorrow, so far this is quite a nice little rifle, considering the price tag, I have much more expensive rifles and this one so far is keeping up with them. Next I'm going to try to move the trigger slightly forward so I can add a little more pre-load to the power adjuster, and drop in the three o-rings.

OK, I pulled the PA from the rifle, and added a 1/4" spacer inside the hammer since mine had a rather long spring guide. This is a good thing in my opinion (the spring guide), and Mike had mentioned dropping a spacer in to get a bit more spring since the gun would pop the valve at 1500 PSI, but it started at around 500 FPS so we thought the spring might just be a bit weak. Well after that it would definitely pop the valve at 1500 PSI, but it then steadily went down in velocity after each shot. This as we know indicated I either needed more pressure, or less pre-load, since I was already at the max recommended fill pressure I started backing off the PA, but just couldn't get even close to the string I had before for 20 shots at at least 20 FPE. So a couple of days ago I reversed it, and went back to my 1300-1350 PSI fill minus the spacer, and o-rings. Joy, got my 20 shots at 22 FPE back, and only have to fill it to 1300-1350. For the price tag, these are kinda hard to beat for anyone wanting an entry level PCP rifle. They are a tinkerers gun, but very much worth the time to learn and tune. And as I referenced in another post Mike is a great guy who will go out of his way to assist a customer. So Thank you Bob, I have my 20 for 20 in 22 cal rifle, and I'm going to try for a 30 - 40 shot string at 15 FPE in the 177 once I start the tuning on it, now that the bugs have been worked out. If I have to back down to 12 FPE and can get a full 40 shots out of that one, that wil be just fine too. I have plenty of other rifles that make big power, so these are great little plinkers / garden, feeder defenders.
