OK, just like the title says, anyone swap a 22 cal barrel on a Big Cat that is currently 177? I have had this gun for several years, and once it was broken in, it settled down and will shoot fair group at 25 - 35 or so yards. However, it only really seems to group well with the 10.5gr CPHP's, or other equivalent heavy 177 pellets, so I am considering swapping a 22 barrel on, and hoping it might just help tame it a bit more. I know to only expect maybe 750-800 FPS with maybe 14.3's, but that would be just fine with me if it improves the accuracy, and hold sensitivity of the rifle.
Thanks for any input, and PM me if you happen to have a barrel that could work.

Hi Casey,
I am also looking to convert a .177 to .22, though mine is a Crosman, as opposed to your Gamo. I have been looking at the exploded views on the Crosman website, and have found a few models that I believe may be the same model that I have, just in a different stock, caliber, and name. The Crosman barrels I'm looking at average 15 dollars each, so in my case I think it's worth buying a new barrel that only "may" work (if Crosman ever gets them back in stock, that is...).
I would suggest looking at the same for your Gamo. Look up your model first, then find models that use the same part numbers for the compression tube and breach-block/barrel (paying careful attention to the "breach lock-up mechanism). If you find one that is similar (uses same part numbers), you're probably in business.

Thanks for the good idea, should have thought of that. I have been trolling the Gamo forum over on the Yellow, but haven't yet seen a post, but will keep looking. Would be nice to see someone has done it, and what their results were before embarking, however, there might be a Crosman barrel that would fit, as the Nitro Piston conversion kit is actually the same one they sell for the Crosman springers.

when you try to remove the hinge bolt in a gamo it ends there. several tuners hate to try to get that bolt out and most end up ruining it . must use the green locktite from the factory unless spain has some super strength sealer

Thanks for the heads up. Maybe I'll just keep feeding the beast some better heavy 177's. The Crosman 10.5's have been the best thus far, however they were also the heaviest in my current collection of 177 pellets. The precision and sporter class match rifles don't need the heavies, so I need to make an order for some new pellets.
