1) Target to download and print: Week 19; Jan/14>20/2008

Print to full-size on an A4 or 8.5"x11" sheet of paper.
2) Shooting distance is 5m/16.4ft for pistols.
3) Shooting distance is 10m/32.8ft for rifles.
4) Any sighting device may be used.
5) NO rests or steadying aids are allowed.
6) 17 shots at the target, 2 per gold dot maximum.
5 sighting/practice shots not on the clock using the green dot on the target.
7) 10 minutes total time (take whatever amount of time for each shot you like, but at 10 minutes-stop!).
8) Scoring is 10 points for gold. Touching the edge of gold counts for points. Only two hits per gold dot counts.
Maximum point count is 120.
9) Entries need to be scanned or photographed and posted. Please list gun, pellet, sighting device and total time expended.
10) You may enter using both a pistol and rifle as separate entries- but all rules must be followed for each.
11) Score your own target. Winner and Runner-Up will be verified by board officials.
12) This is an honorable contest for sport- if you lie or cheat, you are the only one who really loses. Please keep it above-board!
13) Each competition runs from Monday to Sunday. Your entry must be posted in the forum no later than 23:00 GMT Sunday.
14) These rules are for this week's shooting competition and may change for others.

First blood y'all!

Target here:

Specs:
Gun - IZZY 46m
Pellet - RWS Hobby
Distance - 5m
Stance - Standing, one hand
Time - 6 mins.
Score - 80/120 (disregard written score on the target!)

** Probably shouldn't do this, but I did. My other hobby is weight lifting, and I shot this target RIGHT after lifting. But sometimes, I shoot best after working out believe it or not! Maybe concentrating more(?). Who knows?!

P.S. I had my wife check my scores for fairness, just to be sure!

Ah you sneaky devil, I wanted to be first again. Laughing

Looks like it's 12 shots at the target and not 17. I may try this one with my new 2240 with the 14" barrel and shoulder stock, guess that will make it my rifle shoot? Is that considered a rifle now? Maybe not, maybe it's still a pistol with a steadying aid???

Two things for all of you...

Item Number 1
Does anyone know how to make the target not rip?

My IZZY 46m shoots at a low velocity, and I think that rips the target more.

I thought about putting a piece of construction paper behind the target(?)

Anyone have any ideas?

Item Number 2
Where are all of our shooters?

We need more people to shoot this match! : )

Where's Redstone and under500fps and Bhargav, and others??? We miss you guys! Crying or Very sad

I usually put a new piece of thin cardboard behind my target when I want clean round holes. I don't do it all the time, mainly once a week for these target shoot.

I use a heavyweight paper from a Meade drawing pad. It is 9 inches wide so you have to trim a 1/2 inch to get it in the printer, but it cuts almost as good as target paper.

Mar/Woody61,

Great ideas, both of you!

I'm going to try that with the next target. I hate the way the IZZY rips the target so bad.

My dad just finished the most sweet pellet trap I have ever seen for me. He is a woodworker, and it even has a handle! Way too cool! It will allow me to just "slip in" a "backing" sheet behind the target, and that should solve the ripping problem. We'll see how it works.

But the new pellet trap is cool! I'm afraid to try it out, if I hit the edge of it I'll cry!

Also, I finally got all the parts for my Air Force Talon, so I'm hoping to sight that in and shoot it yet this week...

See ya later...

Good deal Bhargav!

Boy, do I know what you mean!

I have literally shot and posted my score in like 15 minutes, RIGHT before the match was supposed to end!

I had just so much going on that week, etc!

Now I start "trying" to shoot on Tuesday night and hopefully actually do so by Sunday night! Shocked
