My AAtx200mk3 .177 shoots a 10.65gr Beeman Kodiak Match pellet at 816fps. That's 15.75fte. That would be illegal in England. Apparently we in the US get a different gun than the English. Is this true, or do they de-tune them for English buyers Question

I suspect they detune them. It wouldn't take much. A little less volume in the valve, a smaller port, etc. Even a lighter hammer spring would do it.

I have the TX200HC in .177 cal and since I gave up my firearms certificate I have to keep it under 12flb, previously I could use it at any power I liked but under UK law all air guns are limited to under 12 flb, unless you have a certificate.

My TX runs at around 11flb and this gives me about 800 fps using AA field pellets. Air Arms sell the TX in two forms under 12 flb and unrestricted they use different internals for each, basically a different top hat and spring. Saying that the restricted model will get up to 14 flb by fitting an extra packing ring, but the spring would be getting close to binding at this power.

Even at 800 fps it is my favourite springer, just grab it and go no bottles, pumps or Co2 to carry just a tin of pellets, and it stays zeroed in all the time.

Why'd you give up your certificate Al? I'd think you'd have it for the rest of your life. Al, 90 years old and too feeble to cock a break barrel, hunting with a PCP. lol

It’s a long story Todd, the Government in it’s wisdom decided to ban all hand guns a few years ago, this was because a guy walks into a school in Scotland and shot 16 children. Which was a terrible thing to happen and something the parents would have a very difficult time coming to terms with.

Immediately the Government banned all hand gun including Olympic .22 target pistols, which caused the withdrawal of the UK team from the 1996 Atlanta
Games. The Government then had to buy back all the guns, spare parts, loading equipment and ammunition in the country.

So what we were left with was a black powder pistol with a shoulder stock and a 16” barrel. Also at the same time all automatic rifles, pump action shot guns etc were also banned. For anything left very strict laws were brought in regarding where the rifles were kept, which is a locked gun safe or left at the local shooting club, this also applies to FAC air rifles (FAC air pistols are also totally banned).

So you see why I gave up my Gun Licence, not worth the bother what with yearly inspections, limits on the amount of ammo kept etc.

I can still cock the TX 200 and shoot half a tin of pellets on the range on a good day, not bad for the AA carbine with a short cocking lever, and a 71 year old but I do like Co2 Guns for nice easy shooting.

That's total crap that they would do that to airguns. I mean it's not like an airgun is a deadly gun. I mean yeah there are freak accidents, but your laws are just too strict. ANd let me guess gun crime went up? It's usually what happens when there is a gun ban.

The gun laws are stupid over here, just last week a sniper in the SAS came home on leave, and his kit came on a different plane. unbeknown to him the Afghan soldiers he worked with put a silver plated 9mm automatic pistol in with his kit, as a gift for protecting them on a mission, upon arrival in the UK and passing through customs it was found. Now the soldier in facing a prison term of 5 years for processing a pistol.

Thanks Alstone. I knew there had to be a major difference. The tx200 is a remarkable gun, and a pleasure to shoot.

It's a shame about your gun laws. I'm sure your aware we in the states are headed for the same thing if we don't continue to fight for our rights. Thanks to our constitution we will always have that on our side.
