I recently purchased a Disco tube, and when I went to install the valve found out that the hole for the transfer port, and the two 4-48 holes for the middle breech screw, were drilled about 0.028" too close to the back end of the tube.... The port in the valve didn't line up, and the breech screw hole was far enough off there was no way you could install a breech.... Fortunately, I had to enlarge the transfer port hole anyway, and I was doing a custom breech, so I drilled and tapped a new screw hole in between the originals and will make the breech to suit.... Without modification, this tube was unserviceable, but somehow made it through Crosman's QC....

| Oops. I suppose it happens more with unassembled parts because they maybe didn't measure it, but relied on the production process controls...and no one tried (and failed) to fit it to a production rifle. |

Crosman weren’t bothered Bob, they knew that you could fix it, anyone else and it would have been perfect.

Yeah, even if they ignored how the transfer port was misaligned, they couldn't have bolted a breech on it....

Well you know how it goes , they probably have a jig that holds it and supposed to be lined up for drilling EXCEPT there's debris in the jig not cleaned out properly, probably some kid running it, thinking about lunch and not the job.
You all know back when we were young probably did the same thing every once in awhile.
But anyway, two of my 2240 tubes were not lined up like they should but was still usable. |
