Here is my progress so far with my second QB78D project. Future plans are custom woodwork and a new aluminum trigger insert to replace the brass one which will also be closer to the rear of the trigger guard. The breech riser is one I made, the valve was gutted out opened up and sampling a valve stem seal of UHMP which is working well so far. It also has a copy Alstones RVA (thanks again Al). This project QB has the knobs and caps made of aluminum and is considerably lighter than my long tube version using brass parts. Anyone who may have a bunch of Belleville washers they are not needing and would sell please let me know. I havnt shot it much so far only regulated at 850 psi. Looking to up that to 1500-1600psi operating pressure.

Nearly missed this one what with Christmas etc, nice smart job as per usual Tom, I like the riser it fits in well with the QB layout.
Is the barrel shroud the same length as the barrel or longer for other uses?

Hey Al, the shroud is about 1-1/4'' longer than the barrel at the moment. I noticed the bore of the barrel was terribly crooked so I kinda left me a lil extra shroud until a replacement was found. The supplier of the qb was contacted about the issue and what I understand is they have no control of the quality and I was stuck with what was sent to me. The POI was 10'' left, and 9'' low at 20 yards(beyond correction). So, long story shortened a generous forum member offered me one of their spare barrels and the shroud will be shopped and fitted with a custom air stripper. |

This is always a problem with QBs the hole not coming out in the centre of the barrel, the Deluxe models are a bit better but still a problem. I have bought a few QBs and 50% have had a barrel problem, so now I go to the shop and inspect them before buying.
If possible I buy old broken BSA meteor air guns for around £25.00 and use the barrels off them, most have broken springs or internal problems but good barrels.

Now that Shanghai Airgun (Industry Brand) bought out S/R-Beeman in the US- I think they are getting a clearer message that QC needs to come up on some products- it's not just a bunch of whiney-westerners twice-removed from the supply chain (the factory) it's dealer-Beeman-factory floor, and I think they are getting better at trying to deal with things- but man, it's a slow process getting done... |

A few more things finished on the project. Sunshade for the scope, and a custom Air stripper built in the shroud tip. Underneath the shroud hiding is my new to me barrel, provided by SeanMP. This is the barrel that was subject of the lead lapping thread, and is also sporting a fine looking target crown. Thanks again Sean!
Also wanted to use my new F1 Chrony bought from Scopes and Ammo so I took a pair of 20-shot strings with 18gr jsb jumbos using whatever the ninja tank is running for pressure(havnt checked it, new 1800psi reg coming on a boat) which could be anywhere from 750-850 psi. I wanted to see what kind of story the two strings would tell me, first one started at 210 bar stopping at 140 bar. Second string Starts at 200 bar down to 130 bar. Here is the story
--1----------2--
689.4 - 683.1
686.7 - 688.9
686.2 - 681.7
679.4 - 683.8
680.2 - 684.2
