Hi i'm looking to buy my son a air gun for xmas but don't know what to get. I want something that he will be able to load and shoot on his own. He is only six i do plan on standing next to him when he is using it and will be locked in gun cabinet when not in use. I don't know much about air guns. I had a multi pump one i was a kid but did not like having to pump it all the time. I did like the break away barrel though. I was looking at the daisy 25 but don't know hard it is to cock. Any advise would be nice. |

Crossmans site says it take 33lbs of pressure to cock their break barrel rifles. Ruger about the same. I have one of each.
I looked all over for how much pressure to cock the Daisy 25 but haven't had any luck. I had one years ago, but memory doesn't hold what it took to cock it,,not much though I wouldn't think. |

Buy one of those cheap Baikal 10M guns. They're super accurate, and have light actions. They aren't more than 200 dollars if I recall correctly. I think it would be perfect for your boy, given you like the way the stock looks. They even have peep sights, which I think are the best to teach a kid on. |

I don't know which air gun you decided on for your son, but if he is only six, he may have difficulty cocking or pumping any of them... I was going to suggest the CO2 powered rifle that Crosman makes. I can't remember the model number, but it is a nice looking rifle, and of course you don't have to 'cock' it against a spring, or pump it up. And, if he get his hands on it un-supervised, it is useless without a CO2 cartridge in it. Anyway just a thought.
What did you end up getting him? I remember my first air gun, and the very first shot I took with it. . What a great memory! |
