I have bought two PCP rifles.
1) Sam Yang Sumatra .22
2) Shin Sung Fire 202
After owning them for a year or so neither will hold any air. Pyramid Air advises to return the guns for repair and they tell me this is a regular problem with PCP guns. Seriously? The cost to return the rifles and on a regular basis seems rediculous.
Can I repair these rifles myself and how?
I've tried searching the forums but I get overwhelmed with irrelevant messages.
Hope someone can help me. |

| Do you hear the air leaking out after filling? Sometimes you need to put over 2500psi for the fill valve to shut after filling. |

I believe the statement "this is a regular problem" is not terribly accurate. Perhaps the Korean guns this is applicable, or perhaps Pyramyd sells so many guns that they see such a huge volume come back with leaks at some point that some salesperson has inaccurately determined all guns come back after awhile.
You can certainly fix them yourself if you can find the correct-sized seals and follow the proper safety procedures. The problem as I see it is that if you have never taken apart an airgun before, starting out with a not-so-common Korean PCP rifle may not be the best plan. Do you know anyone in your area who has taken apart/reassembled successfully any PCP rifles? |

First thing I would try before getting too excited is simply fill them and shoot them down several times to see if the seals just need to be re seated.
Always worth a try before a teardown. |
