Gang,
I'm thinking about a Air Force Talon SS for general paper punching and for some extremely light duty hunting/outdoor plinking.
I'm an open sights guy, and this would be my initiation into the world of PCP.
Considering my proposed uses, how does the Talon SS fit that bill?
I'd also be pumping it up with a hand pump, I live to far out in the sticks to deal with a scuba tank, so any comments there would be helpful!
I welcome and appreciate all comments!
P.S. Whoops! I just realized this probably should have went in the "Rifles" forum! Sorry big time to all!

Well, I'm not a Talon owner- but the whole lineup of guns by AirForce is interesting.
I'm not sure how well the "open sights" thing will work with such a gun- at 800-1000fps depending on caliber, and little recoil as it's a PCP, I know my eyes would be useless with open sights using it. A nice 3-9x40 or 4-12x40 scope would work well! Plus, adding the sights to the gun also adds $50-60 to its price- which you could get a reasonable Leapers scope in place of a similar amount of money.
That being said, the Condor seems to be the real monster of the lineup. And I like the adjustable power output feature on both guns. |

Yeah, it supposedly goes down to 400 fps power-wise, which would give a boat load of shots.
I like using open sights and still have the eyes for it. But you never know when I'll need to graduate "up" to a scope! ; ) I did just turn 40 not too long ago! Shhhh, don't tell anyone!
Anyways, I think I'm either gonna pick one up new or used if I can find one, go with the open sights and the hand pump.
Seems like a cool rig! And yeah, it seems that most people sell the Talons to graduate up the the "monster", the condor. This gun is a real favorite among hunters it seems, and rightfully so!

I like those guns in Camo, but I don't like the bottle/stock thing. Couldn't they've just made a smaller cylinder that would be hidden in the stock or something? |
