Can anybody guess what the problem is here?

Hard to tell from the photo, but it looks like the largest pellet (.25 cal?) is bigger than the OD of the O-ring on the bolt....

I'll go with "trying to jam three different sized pellets in one size bore"!
Shake, rattle and roll (or shoot).
No, seriously- it appears as if the bolt isn't retracting far enough to allow proper pellet loading- it would need to be some sort of 'tilt an drop' loading method to work based on the picture. |

A replacement .25 barrel with a .177 or .22 probe on the bolt?
Improper installation of the muffler belt with an improper-sized Johnson wrench? |

I think Eric has it.... The O-ring is too large to slide back into the bore of the breech....

The power of suggestion is awesome isn't it.
The correct answer is there is nothing wrong, it's a 25 cal 2240.
Possibly the fresh application of Oring grease might be skewing the perspective |

| I would have to disagree with the idea of "power if suggestion"- there was no 'suggestion'- it was a statement posed as a rhetorical question. Had it been asked "is there something wrong here?" this might be more akin to 'suggestion'. |

I'll go with that. Plus the sun was in my eyes. |
