Hi I just bought a crosman 1077 and I would really think it could be a nice squirrel gun. I looked at a lot of the reviews and most of them said it is not powerful enough for hunting but from my experience 600 fps is defiantly enough to kill a squirrel with the right shot placement and 11 extra quick follow up shots it is more than enough. What do you guys think?

And dose anyone have any hunting experience with this gun?

I wouldn't expect a 600 fps, 8 grain projectile to make it all the way through a squirrels muscular leg in the event of a misplaced shot. Headshots even...I dunno man. 600 is slow. Shoot birds with it.

1077 is a great plinker but not a hunting gun.

Yes, indeed. Not what you want for hunting.

And reading "11 extra quick follow up shots it is more than enough" was a bit of a put-off.
Any air gun being used on any particular living animal / bird, should have enough power to kill in one shot.
I hunt too, alot. But I never let the rabbits or hares suffer - it just isn't right to pump an animal full of lead while it's suffering a cruel slow death.
I'm not saying you do that, but by sounds of it, you were considering it.

By any standard the first rule of air gun hunting is simple. One shot, one kill. This is for a reason. At close range the 1077 might work, depending on placement and size of game. With any luck you might be able to take a small/young squirrel. But honestly, I seriously doubt it and wouldn't recommend you try it.

I agree with the brethren. One shot one kill in air rifle hunting. If your gun won't pull this off get a stronger one. Make sure you have it zeroed in before your first hunting shot. I don't have sympathy for "perps" or varmints but at least perps realize why they are suffering.
