So I was at the flea market and picked up a 1077 for 30 bucks with like 25 tubes of c02.

However it does not fire and needs all the seals replaced. I didn't have time to test fire it at the flea market( had my toddler with me) so ya win some lose some.

But anyway, I opened it up and the first thing that comes to my mind is the c02 transfer tube and the two female ports it plugs into. I do not like the design, it has a rubber o ring at the bottom of each port with a loosely fitted steel sleeve that the brass transfer tube plugs into.

Why didn't Crosman just solder the transfer tube into these two ports? Or will the c02 mess up the solder joint?

I also thought about tapping both ports and putting compression fittings on each one(just need to find 1/8" fittings).

Any thoughts on this?

They have used that system on a lot of thing from pistols to rifles for years and it works well.

I wouldn't be too concerned. Throw a seal kit into it and call'r good

It's done that way because rapid cooling causing contraction and a flexible joint will last

Also simpler and cheaper than brazing/soldering or otherwise "hard" joints. The 1077s hold up pretty well if taken care of, I wouldn't worry too much about "improving" this part of the rifle.

Sounds good then, yeah I also discovered that a washer with an offset hole and o-ring are missing from the valve.

I will hopefully order the stuff in the next week or two.

I did look at McMaster Carr and they have the compression fittings that would work for like $1.20 each
