Welcome to the forum, eddwood!

A drop of light gun or sewing machine oil on the pivot points is about all you need. I also use a thin film of synthetic grease on the walls of the cylinder (silicone will work as well).

Judging from the model number and UK prices I'm guessing that this is the Chinese copy of the (more expensive) Weihrauch HW40. It has been offered in the US as the Marksman 2004 and Beeman P17. This is not to imply that it is junk - I am happy with my 2004.

There are two sore points with the gun that I have read about and also experienced first hand. One is that the inlet port into the cylinder is sometimes burred, which chews up the piston seal. A little rubbing with super fine abrasive cloth removes the burr, and I was able to replace the "O" ring seal with one from an automotive parts store. The other point is a nut threaded on the valve stem, which can work loose. This causes noticeably reduced power. A little blue Loctite cures that.

Welcome to the forum, and have fun with your new purchase.

Thank you for your prompt reply I will do as you point out, if I need to replace the O ring I will check for burrs.

Cheers Edward Smile

Welcome to the forum from the heartland, and from another newbie here(...and member of a couple UK air gun forums).
