Hi all. Have been reading alot. Nifty forum Cool
New here so I didn't know exactly where to put this.

I very recently purchased a Benjamin Trail NP XL 1500 in .177. Been putting a few rounds through it to do a proper break in. Nothing on paper so accuracy hasn't reared it's ugly head yet. It has been taking pears off the top of the pear tree consistantly at about 25 yards (waaay out in the country so no backstop issues).
My main concern at this point is this thing is LOUD ! I am shooting Ben Diabolo pellets. I've ran about 100 rounds through it and I don't think it is a dieseling issue at this point.
I guess my question is can I run a heavy pellet and get this thing to go subsonic ? The whole purpose of this was to hunt tree rats with something as quiet or quieter than my .22 subsonic rimfire (cheaper ammo too).
Opinions are welcome

I have the Benji. NP XL 1500 myself. In the beginning , it is VERY loud. But it quiets down after the Break in period. However, it will still sound like a .22 if you shoot 7-8 Gr. Pellets. I recommend the Crosman Premier Ultra Magnums Heavy 10.5 Gr. It quiets the gun down a lot!

I would recommend anything over 10.5 Gr.
