I recently received a Gamo Silent Cat .177 cal for Christmas. Currently I am not pleased with how it has performed. I've been in the woods my whole life and have killed everything under the sun. I know ammo has a major effect on the performance of a rifle and I am currently shooting Crossman Destroyer EX pellets. It came with a Gamo 4x32 scope. At 25 yards, I can not get a consistent group. This is my first air rifle so I am not sure what to expect. Any help on how to improve the accuracy of my rifle and also what to expect at different yardages is appreciated.

The Crosman Destroyer pellets have not exactly been known for their accuracy, try something else.

Search for "artillery hold" on Google.

Beyond that, put about 500 pellets through the rifle to allow it to break-in.

As Eric mentioned , try some different pellets. Most rifles seem to shoot the Crosman Premier Hollow Points fairly well. Give them a try. And as he also mentioned, put 500+ pellets through it and try the artillery hold. I think you'll see a big improvement.

Tighten down the scope mount and rings. The recoil can knock it around pretty good. You may even want to try a different scope altogether. But as for accuracy, the Gamo is quite that.
