Hi Rene
No you can't use a sitting position for off hand shooting, it has to be done standing without any artificial support.

Guess I lose then in this round as I wasn't standing but sitting on top of my freezer just to get the distance right.
I STILL USED TWO HANDS WITHOUT A REST THOUGH. |

I have one question to the judge/moderator of this week competition.
Are we allowed to shoot with an air rifle in a sitting position
Rene. |
Thank you for your nice comment, Rene! And you were shooting mighty well, yourself!

Can't you sit ontop of a freezer and shoot as long as it's free hands? |

I really don't know diddly about shooting competitions generally- perhaps J. or Al have a perspective on what really constitutes "free hand" or "not free hand" shooting. |

It depends how serious you want to be about the rules, it's not about "free hand" or "off hand" it's about shooting standing up with out any support, in a competition you wouldn't even be allowed tight trouses.
In FT you can get nearly as good score sitting as you can using a bench rest, I know for a fact that most of the movement you get from standing comes from the lower body, Try shooting at a target standing with no support say 10 shots, them rest the calf of one leg against a chair and see how your score improves.

Would they ask you to drop your pants, to see if you're wearing an athletic supporter?

You've got a classic and rare air pistol there J, is it silver? Also it puts out a decent score. |
