My Grampa passed away many years ago but he handed down a rifle stock bees wax that he learned as a Gunners Mate, serving with the Armed Guard in WWII. It does two amazing things it completely beads water and makes a nonslip grip on uncheckered rifles. Its not an exact science but that the beauty of it IMO.

Take an old tin of shoe wax(or Crosman pellet tin) put ~2 TBSP of refined Bees Wax in it then add ~3 TBSP Mineral Spirits. take it outdoor and let it sit in the hot sun until Bees Wax is clear, mix well then let set in cool area. It should have the consitency of shoe polish when done. If its not thick enough add some more wax.

I have also used other methods to heat the wax. The safest being melt it in a bowl in microwave then poor into the mineral spirits and mix cool in fridge. Do not put Mineral spirits in the Microwave!

I just put this on my tung oil finished Marauder rifle and I had forgotten how great it is. I apply just like shoe polish then buff with clean cotton cloth. It will be shinny if you buff it well or you can just rub it on for a satin finsh. It really makes the rifle stick to your hand which will dull the areas you touch but when your done shooting a rub down will bring it back to a full shine.

I also use it on my wood pistol grips and the difference in grip is amazing.
