Hello everyone, my name is Ray.
I have two rifles for show and tell.
First one is my benjamin classic .22, its a decent rifle. I used to rave about it because of its performance. Plus its such a gorgeous rifle imo, comes with a nice scope.
But since I built my other gun, it doesn't stand out anymore. So I have put it aside so when I get my chrony I can plug the damn bleed hole in the piston and tune it to canadian spec properly and do some trigger work.
This is my baby now!
After all my messing around, it turned into such an awesome rifle! I had to detune it after I completed it since it was definitely shooting over the limit, I dont actually know how much... but it was obvious. So I used chair gun to estimate my velocity and compared penetration to my benjamin and I am confident its in the 450fps area. Getting my chrony will tell the truth though.
However in detuning, I was retaining air after 7 pumps. So that got me working on figuring what I need to do for 2 shots, and this is what I have come up with, 12 pumps indoors gives me 2 pretty consistent shots!

In the cold outside, I was finding 12 pumps for the first shot, then 1 additional pump for a second was needed.
Once I get my chrony I can fine tune things, bring up to the limit and try and iron out what is needed to get my two shots at a nearly identical velocity.
I love it! |

Thanks guys.
I love my tank, although it is the last time I buy an inexpensive aquarium. I dont feel like its going to explode, but little things about it make me think, right... this is why it was cheap lol And this was a replacement, I exchanged the one before because it had a huge collection of air bubbles in one seam near the bottom which, really made me nervous.
But what ever, I have been toying with the idea of a 125g for the extra foot of length, so I may sell this one this year. Not my fish though, that oscar has got to be one of the coolest pets I've ever had. There is a reason I keep my computer next to the aquarium
Anyway, I think I wrecked a good thing for the moment. I was trying to tune this thing to get 2 shots on 11 pumps... and I have it, but its not as accurate as it was before on 12. So I will have to try and back my flat top piston off a bit to try and find that sweet spot.
If I pump the 2289 7 times, I get a good shot at 45 yards, a little more power than if I try for my 11-12 pump double shot.
So tonight while I was messing about, I started throwing around the idea of reducing volume in my valve a bit and see if I can build it to get max power at the least ammount of pumps.
I need another one of these for everything I want to try lol this is such a great rifle for tinkering. |
