I have a Gamo Rocket pellet rifle, which shoots quite well with Crossman pointed pellets, I then tried Gamo red Fire balistic tipped thinking it will be even more accurate, but it is not, I can't hit any target with it, I think is spins out of control, I switched back to the Crossman and hit the target evey time.
Any thoughts on this?

Welcome to the forum armo Smile
The general perception from most air gunners is that Gamo pellets usually never do as well as crosman, diana, jsb, and other more established manufacturers. If I were you, I wouldn't wast my time with them. But thats just me.

Forget the brand (Gamo) and apply the phrase "approach all gimmick pellets with caution, most are crap" when looking at things.

The only "gimmick" pellet that has ever worked well in my experiennce are the geniune Predator PolyMag pellets (made by JSB for Predator)- the newer Gamo "copies" of these are crap and nothing like the original/genuine article.

Gamo is the largest purveyor of "gimmick" pellets (Red Fire, PBA, Rocket, etc. etc.).

Welcome to the forum! Gamo likes to make "knock-offs" of many different pellets. (Destroyers, Redfires, etc.) The problem with Gamo is that I think they just throw pellets in a tin and ship them. Every tin I have ever bought was Leady, the skirts were almost ALL bent, and just overall poor accuracy.

My tip to you is just try and stay away from Gamo Pellets.

wow, thanks for all your replies, I already bought TWO tins from Midway, I noticed that the Crossman pellets fit into the barrel with no problems, but the Gamo Redfire has to be pushed in.
When I pull the trigger, I could see through the scope the Redfire pellet leaving the barrel and traveling like a curve ball, or knuckel ball, but the Crossman hits harder and faster.
now what do I do with two tins of Gamo Redfire?

One more question, I want to replace the scope that came with the Gamo Rocket, but without spending a ton of money and overkill

What are your requirements in a scope?

requirments for a scope is when I turn the windage and elevation screws, the reticle actually moves, this scope that came with the Gamo rocket is really junk.
I just purchased RWS superpoint extra from Big 5, and boy, are these accurate and deadly, these are made in Germany and you can tell by the construction how high quality these are.
now I just need a good 4 power scope. nothing fancy,
I had a leopold I installed on my winchester .243, that broke, so the name is not everything.

Alright well the first requirement is springers require a scope that is dual recoil rated so most of the names that are familiar to powderburners are a big no....regardless of what they claim

I have a 4x Centerpoint (crosman) love it
a 4x Hawke love it
a 6x NcStar like it

Something with AO (adjustable objective)is very nice because the average airgun shooting is shorter than what most scopes are parallax corrected for.

A nice Air Rifle Scope on a budget would be the Hammers 3-9x32 scope. It is like $60 and it comes with a one piece mount.

I have two of them and they both perform great!

I asked this in another thread- who/what is a "Hammers"- I have never heard of such a company or model.

Haha. As i said in the other Topic, I just found this Hammers scope on Amazon while looking for Camo Tape. I then checked out the reviews, which were all positive. So i went ahead and bought it. It performs great. I barely have to touch it after about 600 Pellets. Smile

Okay- looked into them. By all appearances, they appear to be the same Chinese scopes built in the same factory complex and sold under at least 4 other names- so the question/issue really is- will "Hammers" cover warranties properly?
