Hi,
I'm new to air rifles and just when I thought I figured out what to buy I came across the Crosman Quest 800 and it seems to good to be true for $115.00. I can't spend $500 on a good Beeman, and I could maybe squeeze the $250 or so for a d34, but I'm also trying to buy a new bow also (Hoyt Rampage XT)
So, is there anything I'm missing? Accuracy problems? Reliability issues?
I actually also considered the Crosman 2100, but don't want to pump 10 times for each shot.
Main use will be plinking and some paper targets at the club.
Also, I choose the .22 just in case I need to take care of the occasional opossum.

Thanks

Nothing "wrong" with the Quest 800. It is a model made in China for Crosman and is generally a decent gun- the worst part being the trigger- pull too long and release unpredictable, but this can be cured using a GTX II trigger blade. The Diana 34 is a better rifle "out of the box", the Beeman's are re-labeled Weihrauch's (Diana and Weihrauch are both made in Germany).

Eric is correct. I have a G1, which is the same mechanism as the Quest. To a large extent you get what you pay for, but the Quest isn't a bad choice (except for the trigger). You should factor in another $40 for the trigger upgrade and then consider the options.

I have the G1 as well like Slavia. It's the same basic gun as your Quest. I haven't gotten the trigger upgrade and it still shoots pretty nice.

Don't let the price fool you, they're pretty accurate and actually get close to advertised numbers. A little work yourself is pretty gratifying cause it will pay off in the gun's performance

You should check your local laws.

I personally know that all air powered guns are illegal in Philly. Public ordinance because the gang bangers like to shoot out windows with them.

Maybe at least change your "location".

Anyway. I'd save up for a bit and get the D34. But there is nothing wrong with the Crosmans.

Thanks everyone, I'm still up in the air on this one, I'll prob go w/ the crosman, but a small windfall between now and then will prob make me go w/ the d34.

Fritz, I didn't know that about the air guns in Philly, but it makes sense. I actually live in Delaware County, about 10-15 minutes outside the city.
Had to move out of the city a while ago, raising a family and all.
