So to be safe you are looking at about 600 fps with 14.3 gr pellets (11.4 FPE).... On CO2, that won't be too difficult depending on barrel length.... A Crosman 2260 is about 570-580 fps at 70*F and they are basically the same parts.... The 2260 has a 24" barrel, I don't know about the "ratcatcher".... A 2240 with an 8" barrel is only about 460 fps and a 2250 with an 18" barrel is about 550 fps.... so you can see the trend....

What are your plans for barrel length, etc?....

Maybe this will help..I have a 2240 , I changed it to a 10" barrel, and installed a B&A BOSS valve, and power adjuster..with the 14.3 Crosman pellets I get ~550fps..indoors at 70 degrees... I'm thinking a 14" barrel would put it right at the 600fps limit mentioned...HTH

The Boss Valve mentioned is a gas-hog.... the number of shots per cartridge drops from 35-40 to about 17-20.... With a 22" barrel, it would probably put you over the 12 FPE limit.... I would start with just the barrel change and go from there.... Probably some mild porting work on the valve is all you will need (if anything)....

If you can get 600 fps, and use 14.3 gr. pellets you'd have 11.4fpe Smile

I changed it to a 10" barrel, and installed a B&A BOSS valve, and power adjuster..with the 14.3 Crosman pellets I get ~550fps..indoors at 70 degrees... I'm thinking a 14" barrel would put it right at the 600fps limit mentioned...HTH

Using 14.3gr pellets, I get 27 shots with average velocity of 528.24fps (highest of 547) with PA turned ALL the way in...that's my reasoning for thinking that the 14" barrel would be just about right......you could start with a longer barrel, then shorten it say 1 " at a time, as necessary to get fpe under legal limit
