The point I was trying to make is that I have always understood collecting - of anything - to mean, trying to acquire a representative sampling at least, if not a complete set, of whatever that thing is.

A person really can't "collect" "guns", any more than he can collect coins, stamps, or postcards, because there are just too many specimens out there that you couldn't make a dent in it, regardless of how much time and money you had to devote to it. Hence, the selection of a "theme" or as someone here said, "category": Naval model Lugers, let's say, or Colt Single Action Army revolvers, or anything made by Ruger. And yes, you can collect in more than one category.

Me, I'm a gun accumulator. I have a random sampling: rifles and shotguns and pistols, .22's and .38's and .45's, break opens and bolt actions and autoloaders.

It makes no sense, especially since I bought them with shooting in mind, but seldom get to a range, much less a rural area, to shoot any of them. (Which is what started my interest in air guns).

I just never try to tell anything that owning this accumulation of random bits and pieces represents "gun collecting".

Jim

Maybe after a while. I still got stuff planning. But it's still plans. Plans need funding. If you want to donate cash for my plans, feel free to send me a PM. Mr. Green

I see lauchlin has a few more pieces than just Crosman!

That model 106 Bullseye (2nd last picture)- how does it shoot and can parts still be obtained for it anywhere?

I would have thought that any mixture of guns was a collection, if it has a theme it would be a specialized collection, and rather limited, it's like a "Gun Collector" and a "Collector of Guns" same thing, and if you have to have a theme then all the guns have a barrel. So anything counts as a collection.

That's a cracking collection there lauchlin, one of the best I've seen outside a museum, are they all shootable or are some of them to delicate ore old for that ?

I had thought the 105's were all .177 and it was the 106's that were .22 caliber? I gather I must have picked this up incorrectly somewhere?

You've only been collecting Crosman's for 5 years now? That's quite the pile for such a short period of time!

I suppose you could say that the theme behind a postage stamp collection is that they all have glue on the back! Mr. Green
