Has anyone had any experience in using the Merlin Match Pellets manufactured by Vogel and offered for sale through the CMP (Civilian Marksmanship Program) to U.S. citizens?
They are shown on the website at $70.00 for 5,000 pellets in a sleeve of 10 plastic cases of 500 pellets each. Since the CMP is all about Marksmanship, it would seem these pellets, which they are designating as "Match" pellets, should be at least pretty good. On the other hand, one of the main facets of their mission is youth marksmanship programs, so maybe these might be "match" pellets for entry level (begining) young shooters?
Anyway, 5,000 pellets is a lot of pellets if your initial use of them turns out to be disappointing. Thus my query here before I think about commiting to a purchase.
Also, if anyone has had any experience with these, might you know their weight? This is not listed on the CMP website: www.odcmp.com |

I don't think 5000 pellets is a lot. If I had the money, I'd be getting somewhere about 150 bucks worth of JSB Exact, H&N FTT or 'cuda extra heavies. All of those pellets can be had in 4,50, 4,51 and 4,52 mm which should make a decent fit for pretty much any rifle on the market. |

5,000 is a lot if they turn out to be inferior. This is the minimum quantity you can purchase per order. |
