Both of these rifles are Nitro Pistons. On older reviews of the Remington I heard the velocities were very low. (Around 623 with the average 14.3 grain pellet) but on the online stores it states it shoots around 1000 with PBA ammo, so minus around 200 and that should be your lead velocity. Again the reviews were from last year so I don't know if they made modifications. The Benjamin trail (not xl) is a very popular rifle. I do not know the velocity of this rifle though it states 1000 with PBA. Automatically I would choose the Remington considering it's made in the good old U.S.A. and because of the sweet desert marpat look, but if the velocities are low compared to the Trail than I might have to go with that. Let me know your opinions.
Thanks,

| With the current propensity of manufacturers to exaggerate actual velocities, it's hard to predict what will come out of any given rifle. The Remington units have a significantly larger tube (i.e. more air to potentially be pushed- as in a greater power potential) than do the Benjamin-branded units. Crosman was making sure (this was in early 2010) that the Remington units in .22 caliber were getting a minimum of 700fps (they test fired them before packaging)- whereas the Benjamin-branded units are made in China and who knows if they test shoot them to check the output. Crosman has required the Chinese do better QC than they would likely do normally, but power output may not be one of the items they are concerned with. |

| Trails are rated at 950 with alloy, everything I've seen has been low to mid 700's with most being towards the middle. Correct me if I'm wrong but even though the NPSS has a wider tube I think the Trail has a longer piston stroke. I'll have to compare my Quest and Genesis when I get home since they are the un-rammed actions of each |
