i wanted to get pistol for small pests like chipmunks mice and rats.
im kinda unsure if i should get the 2240 or if i should get the 1377c.
im leaning more toward the 1377c side because it is pump and the 177 cal pellets are easier for me to get. on the other hand the 2240 is a .22 cal and ive been wanteing to get one because i heard they are quite hard hitters. so what do you guys think i should get?

I'm not very fond of pumpers. I'd go for a 2240. But be carefull, you'll want to mod it. A lot. Razz

i use a 1377 for pest control out to 10 yds effectively
it is modded flat top piston and valve
10 pumps does the trick up to 10yds, my max distance, using cph
what i like about the 1377 no co2 to buy and cold weather friendly

how close are you going to be able to get to mice and rats? if you can get into pistol range i would go with a 2240 in .177 caliber and a scope since with a few mods it will shoot farther then the 1377. and if you find the targets are too far away you can always put a 24 inch barrel and a stock on it . im new a pellet guns myself so hopefully others will chime in with their opinions on my thoughts.

i thought if you ordered a 2240 , all you had to do was change the barrel to make it .177

i think if you change the barrel to .177 the gun will still say 2240 on it right?

so yes, a 2240 can shoot both .177 an .22

see, the thing is..you said you'd "go with a 2240 in .177 caliber" you can't GO with it ...you would have to make it..And lastly..doesn't matter WHAT it says on it...if it's .177 caliber it is NOT a 2240..see, a 2240 is .22 caliber, according to the manufacturer.. I would have thought that you would know what the "22" in "2240" actually means.

There's also a 1740 available, isn't there?

There used to be, but that was years ago. You can get the 2300 and the 2400 in .177.

I've always preferred pump for pest control and C02 for plinking and all around shooting. Single shot pumps work well if your just going to go outside and pop a few pests, then your done. I'd hate to waste a whole C02 cartridge to take care of 1 animal. I'd also go with the .22 for any type of pest control. Just my .02
