Hi guys,
I was just wondering who on the forum hunts with a "2240".I've got a bad itch to build up one, after seeing all the things you can do with them....plus they are mighty fine looking shooter when modded. The reason I'm looking at the 2240 is,I'm on a budget, and need a "backpack" gun, that can take small game/pests at a reasonable distance, say 20-30 yards.I've seen them with valve mods, etc producing over 550 fps, with a 14.3 grain pellet. In addition, after looking at the schematics, they appear really easy to work on.Anyone have any thoughts or experiences they wish to share? |

2240's, 1377's keep them within their killing range and they'll do the job. The 2240 and 1377 are both stock , no internal mod's. DH |

Mark,
I'm in the same boat as you are. I wanted a backpack type pistol/rifle. You could start out with a 2240. If you shop around the online vendors, you will sometimes see remanufactured ones for around $50.
But...there's an issue with these you should be aware of. The 2240, 2250 and 2260 were all orginally designed to opperate at Co2 pressure levels of 850psi. If that's fine by you, go ahead and start with one of these. But if you want to eventually turn your pistol/rifle into a HPA gun, be aware the gas tubes on these are NOT capable of handing the higher pressures. This is because the tubes are stamped during the manufacturing process. This causes a weak spot in the gas tubes.
If you search for a post by rsterne (bob), he goes into full detail about this. Yourdaddyjoe also has warnings on his webstore as well.
There is a work around. If you can manage to scrape up a few more dollars. Go to Crosman's Custom shop. That's where I built my 2300kt. It's basically a 22xx with a 14" long barrel, and the steel breech installed. The newer ones also have an adjustable trigger already built into them! A most fortunilly the gas tube is NOT stamped, so I can easily bulk this pistol. As is I've taken a few pigeons and a squirrel with it now, I'd say it's a good ag right out of the box. |

Looks good Jax.I think that is the way I will go.Just out of curiosity, how long did it take to hit your door step. The reason I asked is when I ordered a .22 barrel, bolt, and o-ring for my Disco to do a caliber swap it took almost 8 weeks to get the parts! |

| Both my 2400 custom and my 2300 custom took about 2-3 weeks to get here. |

| I went with .22 cal with both of mine to keep my pellet inventory low, and .22 carries more useable fpe. It's just my personal opinion that my 2400 hits harder than my storm xt and the storm is supposed to be 1000 fps. I know that if I hit the center spinner on my targets, I get 4 complete flipovers with my 2400, and only 2 with my .177 storm. |

What weight pellets are you using in both the storm and the 2400? What range are you shooting at? |
