I bought a range of pellets, here are the results with a Shooting Chrony (fps are average of at least 5 shots): RWS Super H Point (14.2gr) - 793fps / 19.83fpe Crossman Premiers HP (14.3gr) - 800fps / 20.33fpe H&N Crow Mag (18.21gr) - 685fps / 19.5fpe H&N Baracuda Match (21.14gr) - 608fps / 17.3fpe I know springers have definite break-in periods while accuracy settles, but I've not read about a springer increasing power as it breaks in? I was expecting most pellets to be in the 23fpe range (no, I'm not expecting 1000fps as advertised). The Premiers had the highest standard deviation, but they also seemed the least consistent as far as barrel fit. Should I expect this to increase? The .22, FYI, is only advertised at 860fps, not 1000- so if you can consistently achieve 800-ish fps using 14.3gr pellets and it's accurate, I'd say you're doing pretty well. _________________ ` I'd say "I care." As far as advertised FPS, I suppose its who you ask, Diana advertises it (honestly) @ 860 fps, umarex however says 1000fps (as does all online retailers I've seen). Airsonal: Too many to count!   Posted: Thu Feb 25, 2010 2:37 pm Lipoly Veteran Member Joined: 06 Dec 2009 Posts: 241 Location: St. Louis, MO, USA Got some new pellets today...this thing must be breaking in: JSB Diabolo Exact Jumbo Heavy (18.1gr) - 785fps / 24.7fpe (max 802fps/25.98fpe) Predator Polymag (16gr) - 800fp / 22.97fpe I must say though that I don't totally trust my chrony numbers b/c they are not all that consistent. From what I've seen on AirgunReporter, the RWS rifles should shoot well within a 20fps spread...even when new. I've had up to 40fps spread at times. Maybe AirgunReporter was wrong, maybe my rifle is still breaking in, maybe my pellets are not consistent, or maybe I am not using the chrony correctly (due to light conditions). I've also had some ridiculous readings occasionally (like in the thousands of fps).
