I am not sure if this should be a new topic or should have been posted under the roof rat topic.
To this point I have used my air guns only for paper punching, silhouette shooting and plinking. I never really considered using them for pest control until recently when I thought there was a Sumo wrestling match going on in my attic every night around bed time. 2 Squirrels have chewed through the soffit and taken up residence in my attic. We tried the humane thing and chased them out and then repaired the soffit. After a couple of days they gnawed their way back in and resumed the Squirrel party / wrestling match. I feel that I do not have enough room to shoot a rifle in the relatively tight space of my attic. I am wondering if my air pistols would be appropriate to make a humane kill? I have a Beeman P3 in .177 and a Walther CP88 with a 6” barrel .177 they shoot in low to mid 400 fps range. |

I guess those lack a bit of power. But I think you could get a Crosman pumper in .22 and that'll do the close quarter hunting just nicely. You can pump it up to a decent amount of power. If you're quick about it, you might even be able to take it back under warranty? |

I would guess that your attic isn't more than 20 feet, which should give you plenty of power to drop a squirrel. If shot in the head or neck.
What rifles do you have?
As Broom said, the 1377 or 1322 would do the trick quite well. |

I have a Crosman 2260.
I am researching my next rifle (I would like to try some field target matches) the RWS 34 and 48 have peaked my interest but I would like to see the new Benjamin Trail NP XL before I make a decision. |
