It's a chinese clone, based on the Diana 31/34, you see that one a lot more often.
The D31/34's are pretty good rifles. |

Might get one some time, allthough the Diana 31 Panther is just a tad mor bang for your buck, even though it's more expensive.
Can any one of the owners of the Ruger make some detailed pics of the stock and action? |

| I digi cam not working, but I can say it's powerfull and accurate. I did have to replace the scope mounts right away becaue the recoil had the front site popping off. I bought the type that have a serrated edge that grips the dovetail. Have had no issues since! |

| i feel the same way about the genesis, there's only one other person here and another forum (same person) that i've ever seen have one. they are a great gun, possibly one of the most underrated for the money. the airhawk was interesting to me til i found out it's chinese, i try to stay away from stuff they make |

| I was told that the Super Streak was a POS... it shoots pretty good and is my go-to-gun. I doubt it is half as good as a Diana 350 though. |

| It's kind of funny but I am 6' and of large build and yet when I held the Ruger at the store it was too heavy and too long for me. Since it is not really made by Ruger but by a Chinese contract company I didn't feel it would up to the standards of other powder Rugers I have had in the past so I went for one that fit and cost a little less even though it did not have quite the polish that the Ruger had. |

They sell these at the local Bass Pro and i was able to hold one, they feel very nice and solid.
You cant assume that because its made in China its garbage anymore, China has come along ways in the last 2 decades! They're quality control is much better now, not quite as good as euro and american but pretty good. Its good enough that Honda has opened up a plant in china making motorcycle and scooter parts!
A few months back I installed some prototype food processing equipment for a major american cereal company and i was quite surprised with the quality of the stainless steel work they had done!
That being said, I shy away from Chinesse products not because of the quality but because of they're politics and the way they treat workers. |

-along those lines, the Chinese CAN produce quality when they desire as they have the technology and experience now. The problem is that they still want to sell piles and piles and piles of volume, dictating the prices need to stay low. Unfortunately for both them and those of us that get imported Chinese goods, it means the vast majority is still cheaply produced junk.
That being said, often when companies contract a specific manufacturer for a product- i.e. Crosman, RWS, whoever- unless they want a pile of warranty issues, they will typically demand a certain level of quality from the manufacturer.
The double-edged sword the Chinese face is that if they produce high quality with increased pricing and the rather significant shipping costs from China to parts outside Asia- people then can stay with domestically produced goods (assuming there are any) or buy from a manufacturer/country where the long-term perceived quality has always been present (i.e. the "old world"). If they continue to produce low-end junk, their profit is lower and anyone with the ability to discriminate (financially speaking) will stop buying their stuff. |

| Ever hold a BAM rifle, i havent shot one but they feel very nice, my problem with them is they reverse engineer a existing rifle and then mass produce them in volume. The one i held was a copy of a R9, if the R9 is a 10 I would say the BAM clone was a 7.5 |

True enough- the "higher end" stuff they copy has been pretty good, generally. I believe the formula someone came up with somewhere around here at one point was something like "50% the price, 30% less quality".
But, when you look at the lower-end BAM stuff, that argument goes out the window- because it is just low-end junk (i.e. B1, B2, B3 models) and the price reflects this (usually). |

It really needs at least a lube/deburr tune out of the box.
When I took mine apart the lube that was in it looked like diarrhoea!
I made a new delrin spring guide and tophat, which lessened shot harshness, and chopped the barrel to 14.5 inches which improved accuracy and balance. It's still heavy though. |
