| What pellets have y'all had good experiences with when shooting long range and what is considered long rang for a springer? |

75 yards on a coffee can.
50 yards on a soda can.
25 yards on a 12 ga shotshell.
most would agree. |

I shoot the round end of a BBQ propane tank at 100 yards with a Crosman G1/Crosman 10.5 grain Ultra Mags - that's probably about the same angular displacement as the coffee can, soda can, and shotshell above. Wind gets to be a big factor as you move out past 50 yards. |

Have you penetrated the propane tank with pellets and if so was it at 100 yards? |

| No penetration. No dent. It doesn't even chip the paint - just leaves a grey smudge. The flattened pellets bounce and fall on the ground about two feet away. It does make a purdy noise, though. |

Well, I scared the bejeebers out of a Blackbird at about 40yds with a Gamo Shadow 1000 and a Crosman Premier HP one day. Does that count? (Nope, didn't kill it, nor was I trying to, but just like the on-premises squirrels, they react funny to things that just "appear" out of nowhere to remind them of their place on the grounds. . .) Oh, and the squirrels and I do get along a little better these days too.
Not nice? Downright kind next to the Groundhogs on the property, they get treatment to the cue of .22 Magnum.
As for shooting at distance, I really don't shoot much past 15 yds, which I can just barely do indoors, and right now, it's bloody cold in my basement! |
