Greetings to all; I'm new to this forum.
After many years of lusting, I've just ordered an HW97 air rifle. I'm seriously considering a custom stock for it, so spent some time over the last few weeks surfing the web for available stocks, but I've come up short.
The most promising seemed to be James Maccari, but his website now indicates that he is "no longer entertaining custom stock inquires..." He goes on to indicate that he will post what's available in his "Today's Specials" lilnk, but there seems to be absolutely nothing there.
Another option I found was DaveG, but one blogger indicates that he sent money a year ago and still has no stock despite assurances every month from Dave that his stock will be shipped "in a couple of weeks." Reading DaveG's website, it sounds like he has his hands full with an ill spouse, so understand that he's probably busy.
Ideally, I'd like a relatively classic stock, but made from a high grade of quality Walnut. I'm not really interested in thumb-hole stocks or laminates. If anyone has any sources to recommend I'd be very appreciative.
Now that the question is out there, I'll tell a little about myself. I'm an over 50 guy who has been a life-long shooter. At my peak, I was a High Power Rifle competitor. I migrated to small bore competition some years ago but have always loved airguns.
Like everyone else, my first air gun was essentially a nice toy. It was a replica Winchester 94. During my High Power days, I read an article written by some well known big game hunters about some "mini-sniping" that they did in South Africa. They typically used Feinwerkbau 300's of various flavors for their matches, typically using 9mm cases on boards as targets. When I saw an add in Shotgun News for a Feinwerkbau 300s for under $500.00, I ordered one. I thought it would be a great way to practice offhand at home to keep those skills honed for High Power. It turned out to be a great practice tool. I still have the gun today and just simply love it.
As the FWB is a little low-powered for hunting, I lusted after the HW77 for several years, but couldn't part with the cash. When the HW97 came out, I lusted after it as well. Long story short, I just ordered one today. We'll see if it turns out to be what I hope it is.
Anyway, enough about me. I eagerly await any suggestions on a stock or any other tips on the 97 that anyone may have. |

Welcome aboard, Steve!
Might wanna try ginb.it. Italians are the best designers in the world in my opinion. The Ginb team is one of the best in the world, even though I bet they ain't tall. Good prices too, in my opinion.
HW97(k?) is a great gun, and so is the FWB300. Typical winners. The HW97 will need a relubing though, at least they do over here. Covered in grease, and they can get a lot of Dieseling.
Dudes' site. And yeah, he speaks english!

Thanks for the info. Will try out those leads.
Actually, my order for a new HW97 was canceled by the supplier. I'll post another thread about that... |

| Man, those Italians do make some incredible stocks. Corcorran's aren't anything to sneer at either. Thanks for the leads... |
