THIS IS A FORTNIGHTLY TARGET, SHOOT ANY TIME IN THE NEXT TWO WEEKS

EVERYONE WELLCOME

1)Print to full-size on an A4 or 8.5"x11" sheet of paper.
2) Shooting distance is 5m/16.4ft for pistols.
3) Shooting distance is 10m/32.8ft for rifles.
3a) The rules for shooting 5m or 10 m are that the distance from the target to the firing line should be 10m for rifle and 5m for pistol.
All shots, from whatever shooting position must be made with the competitor wholly behind the firing line but able to touch it.
Basically the shooter should be behind the line but the part of the gun not being held by the shooter can protrude past the line.
4) All targets to be shot standing
5) Any sighting device may be used.
6) NO rests or steadying aids are allowed.
7) 16 shots total, 2 per target maximum. Up to 5 sighting/practice shots not on the clock using the Red
8) 15 minutes total time (take whatever amount of time for each shot you like, but at 15 minutes-stop!).
9) Score as marked on target. Only Two hits per target count. Maximum point count is 160
10) Entries need to be scanned or photographed and posted. Please list gun, pellet, sighting device and total time expended.
11) You can enter using both a pistol and a rifle as separate entries, only one entry for each, but only the best score will be used for the placings.
12) Score your own target. Winner and Runner-Up will be verified by board officials.
13) An honourable contest for sport- to lie or cheat, is the only real loser. Please keep it above-board!
14) Each competition runs for 2 weeks. Your entry must be posted in the forum no later than 23:00 GMT on the last Sunday.
15) These rules are for this week's shooting competition and may change for others

Please make sure that the blue border is visible on your entry.

Al

Just downloaded the target to print, and there is no border around the page. Not sure if the wrong one got posted, or it isn't supposed to have one this week?

cheers
Jeff

Sorry about that I'm on the road this week and had to make do with what I had with me, so just shoot it as it is.

Cool, figured I'd check before I shoot Smile

Anyways, another question.... I shoot a lot each week, and so could probably shoot the target with each of my guns. Should I pick one rifle and 1 pistol each competition, or can I shoot each gun (only once mind you Smile ) and then submit the best score? New to this stuff so I want to get it right Rolling Eyes

cheers
Jeff

airgunsforfun,

I was trying to read it for you, and could not get an accurate account of all targets. I may be wrong but I see 5 points so far.

Might I make a couple of helpful suggestions?

1. Use a piece of color-contrasting paper underneath the target paper, to allow for shots to show up more clearly.
2. Try to take a picture from directly over it, if it is sitting on a table, or tape it up to a wall and take a head-on photo. A fellow I used to know would take his .22LR targets and tape them to his window and use the sunshine outdoors to show his groups.
3. Another thing, to minimize tearing of the paper, a slightly heavier paper (I'm currently using 32lb paper, have tried 20lb, 24lb and 110lb card stock), and securing the paper firmly (I don't know what you attach it to too shoot with some cardboard backing which can help minimize tearing.

Sounds like a good workable plan to me. Means you get some shooting time in with one, or a couple of your air arms, more productive trigger time for you since you're trying to shoot for a good score ("win, win" so far). Of course, if you stick with one, and get more familiar with it, you get closer to the "beware the man with one gun, and knows how to use it" slogan too. LOL

Over on another board, I "jumped the gun" and posted my best, and ironically the first target, of shooting my new 1377, only to later shoot a better scoring target about a week later. I was "man enough" to let that first one stay, cause I need a lot of practice. In fact I've spent my night playing on the internet/Airgun Chat boards when I should have been shooting! Embarassed

Trying this with two different Air Pistols - Beeman P3 and Crosman 1377. Tried three targets each, embarrassing. I hope to get up early and practice tommorow. Hopefully will have a suitable target to submit by Friday, or Saturday Night at the latest.

I believe one can only use/choose one pistol and one rifle only and that is your score for each one used. Maybe Al can clarify this better.

Neighbors upstairs are moved out so have the whole place to myself so...
Out comes the custom scoped Crosman 2240
Standing, 2 hand hold,
5 M
Pellets: Crosman wadcutter
Time: 11 min
Score: 88/160

Yes that bottom middle target has 2 pellets in the same hole.Smile

To keep the target shooting interesting and make it available to most shooters we have to have some compromisers, you can only "enter" one rifle and one pistol target for each competition, how many you shoot before that is up to you, whether you shoot two targets with different weapons or 10 you can still enter only one for each type of gun.

As for the scoring only the highest scored target from each shooter will be entered in the final placing, this is so that one person cannot get winner and runner up on the same shoot, other wise someone who is a good shot could take over the winner and runner up place each fortnight. The idea is that it gives everyone a chance and stops one person dominating the shoot.

Also if you do have one target discarded it still gives other shooters something to compare to, so it’s still nice to post it although it will be discarded in the final scoring.

I hope this makes sense ?

Al

Cool, thanks for the clarification. I think I'm going to keep it to a single try per gun for mysaelf, rather than multiple. Seems like multiple trys with the same gun is sorta like a do over Smile

cheers
Jeff

Using two vastly different pistols as the Beeman and Crosman are shows an interesting contrast. The Beeman, with its light trigger, and superior "feel" in the grips compared to the Crosman, which is easier to feed but has a more difficult trigger. Oh, so far, my best score is with the Crosman.

6/160
Pioner 2
Daisy Precision Max wadcutters
10m
Standing

The Pioner 2 (yes, it's spelled correctly) is a rifled, break-barrel, Romanian military trainer:

Some of the holes may be a little indistinct - it doesn't have enough gumption to penetrate the cardboard behind the target. Notice the extreme deformation of the pellet:
