Here's something I just tried, sat having a cool drink and plinking away in the garden, I finish up with a few ice cubes in the bottom of the glass so just for fun I lined then up at the bottom of the garden and opened fire, the results were spectacular they explode quite well.
Try it, but you will need a cool drink in the garden on a hot day and plenty of ice, plus these are green targets (no waste)

Undoubtedly on a hot day- you must shoot them quickly, or they will melt!
I'm trying to think of something to make this ice-cube shooting even more interesting- colored ice cubes don't seem any more interesting than regular ones- but I'm drawing a blank in coming up with any other viable modifications. |

Use a dark colored background.
Then place ice cubes on golf tee's.
Wooden tee's explode when you hit them.
But they make plastic Tee's that are pretty tough.
Up here in Michigan during the winter a bag of ice can
last all day with two guys shooting the heck out of them.
Bottled Water bottles work good too..Freeze um
and cut the plastic bottle off them with a box
cutter. Mags frag-um real good. |

Hi Bob I would guess that you need a fairly powerful gun to shatter a frozen water bottle, I'll have to give it a try but I'm not sure my .177 QB will manage it.

The QB78 itself or the projectile!
The claimed maximum projectile velocity of the QB78 is 800FPS for .177cal and is 600FPS for .22cal on the UK versions.

You Guy's should try shooting Paper Cap Gun roll's,,When the pellet make's contact with the roll, it Explodes. Take care with your neighbor's though, it make's quite the Bang!, or you can take the roll and cut off individual little caps, and tape them to the bullseye or center of your target. Andy |

Andy- I know what you're talking about- but I haven't seen cap guns or the little rolls of noisemakers for them in years- where can people buy them these days? |

I picked them up at Wal-Mart for less than 2 buck's a pack, I also picked up a pack of the round plastic 8 shot one's to do some experimenting w/ exploding pellet's, 'success was not bad, but not what I was looking for,,I tried packing the head's of some H&N Crow Magnum .22 round's with the powder that's inside the plastic cap, and then sealing them up,,I came up with some interesting result's. When I fired one off at the bottom of a coffee can, when the pellet hit, there was a nice little POP!, and a Flash, and the pellet went clean through the bottom of the can, and left virtually no indentation, and the metal was folded back quite nicely on the inside of the can. When I made the same shot this time with no powder, and another can, the pellet went through, but left massive indentation, and the metal on the inside of the can was jagged and un-uniform. The only thing I don't like about the whole process, is that it's pretty time consuming just to make a couple of round's. If any forum member's tries it out let me know your result's, Andy. |

I've tried filling hollow point pellets with the scrapings off matchstick heads, pack in in tight using a matchstick, and shoot at anything hard, it go off with a crack.
So now with a silencer on the gun and noisy pellets your transfering the bang somwhere else.

I started with plain ice cubes and they explode so nice. Then I try adding some color and different size. It is a very inexpensive target and environmental friendly |

i orderd some on amazon they are not much just but the ring ones and cut each part into a single then put it on the bulls eye of the target make sure the single caps have the whole part faced down on where you tape it |
