I don't think tracking guns is a bad thing, really. Just like tracking a car.
The other stuff seems to be quite extreme though. |

Sounds good to me as there are too many ignorant people with guns in
America. I'll vote for it. A mental evaluation should be mandatory. |

| Well, charging money for when you want to get rid of a firearm and selling it to someone sounds just plain stupid. That means no one ever wants to sell their firearms unless they hate it. |

I could never support these laws for one single reason:
IF I AM HELL BENT ON KILLING SOMEONE OR COMMITTING A CRIME A STUPID LAW WILL NOT STOP ME. I AM ALREADY GOING TO COMMIT A CRIME (which would probably put me in prison for life anyway, if not get me killed) FAR WORSE THAN BRINGING A GUN TO ____ (insert place).
Take for example, the laws banning guns in schools or public places. Gee, they seem real effective at deterring school shootings don't they? Criminals are already going to break the law, they care not if it is illegal (or else they wouldn't be criminals, now would they?).
Israel doesn't have a problem with school shootings because the people know teachers and staff are ARMED. I most certainly would be (and feel) much safer knowing that my teachers carry a gun.
The government should, and does not need to know if or what kind of weapons I own. Exceptions being obviously destructive devices such as bombs.
Anyone who knowingly gives up their freedoms for temporary safety deserves freedom nor safety.
Here's a nice read:
http://www.theblessingsofliberty.com/articles/article11.html
By contrast, homicide rates are highest in the underdeveloped countries, many of which ban private firearm possession. In some, private murder does not compare to the genocidal murder committed by governments against their unarmed subjects. (Reminds me of Pol Pot and Hitler, eh?)
I think I have said enough. If you need more: google "gun control".
One day I actually searched a couple times through google on "why gun control works". Never got a hit on why it works... reading back a couple pages there was still nothing. Point proven. |

YES, i must agree wholeheartedly.
the sign where i work that says
"no guns or weapons allowed"
only prevents leagal law abiding citizens from carrying.
the crook don't care, and now he knows that everyone is unarmed.
if I were a crook and came upon a town where the law said that EVERYONE has to own a gun, i think i might keep goin'.
there are a few cities across the country where this is the case.

Fritz, and Sniper nailed it.Decent hardworking citizens, that contribute to society should be able to not have our Government get in the way of private ownership of firearms.I don't advocate violence of any sort, but here is an example.
Tonight at about 6.30 P.M. I found out that an acquaintance of mine, was mugged by three gang bangers.Yeah they took his wallet, and he thought that was it.But no,they smashed the back of his head in with a 2x4,just for fun. These punks have not been apprehended, and they are still out there, probably looking for someone else to brutalize. This happened to him about two months ago,and he is doing better, thank God.
I can't help but think this situation would have been prevented, had he been allowed to carry.
He is a kind soul who was victimized by street urchins.I question the people involved in anti-gun ownership.what if it was your buddy? What if it was your Wife or child?I can't help but think, they would feel a-little different, about what they are trying to accomplish? |

You're in for a whole lot of different crap in Zwitserland.
Pity you guys fail to see how right Johnytime actually is. There are also people who legally buy guns and commit crimes with them. Reasonable gun control to some extend wouldn't be a bad thing, just a bit more trouble for you gun owners.
Then again, as I said, this law would be a bit over-cooked and therefore mostly unreasonable. |

really I can't see two much wrong with most of it...
People that put guns in unlocked racks/under beds etc
deserve to lose them...
Guns in NZ have to be stored in a locked gun safe that is fixed
to the ground/building...and bolts /ammo must be stored in a
seprate locked safe...
All gun sales new or used must go though the police regester...
The police have the right to inspect your fire arm storeage
at any time....You will not be issued a fire arms licence till
your fire arms storeage has been police inspected...
The police never do random inspections...Only if theres a
reasion....AND SO THEY SHOULD.....

I have asked myself the question of ban everyone or ban noone, and the majority always stands out.
Mark, if it was my way those thugs would have been lifeless piles of sh!t with a couple (or more) .45 holes in them, your friend with a smoking gun in his hand. Cleansing the gene pool.
Not knowing if someone has a gun on them or not is a very big deterrent. Back at the turn of the century (early 1900s) it was a common practice for men to carry pistols on the end of their pocket watch chain. Is he checking the time, or defending himself? It commands respect and decency from society as a whole. I'm sure as hell not going to try and mug the guy with a loaded pistol in his pocket...
Freemen for centuries carried their swords openly. Why? Not much as a gun, but a symbol of their freedom from oppression (being a slave or servant). All men (and women of course, saying men just saves space) deserve the right to own, possess, carry, use, and defend themselves. Those that commit heinous crimes do not deserve this right for some time as punishment. I do believe that even the most hardened criminal can possibly come clean and live a good life though.
This has been said a million times before and is still true: there is no such thing as a good gun or a bad gun, guns are tools. It is the man holding the gun that makes it good or evil.
One of my friends on another forums signature is "Instead of banning guns and shiny things, just let the stupid people die. The world will be a better place because of it." |

I am not really a liberal or a war monger. It's just that I go down to the
local dirt area here to go shooting and there are these drunk rednecks
waving their guns around, pointing them in all sorts of wrong directions,
swearing, smoking and flicking cigarette butts everywhere and talking like
they have mental problems, letting their dogs run around and harass other
people. So, if we had a law where only mentally stable people could have
and shoot guns it would be better for the mentally stable and decent people.
I would like to introduce my kids to the shooting sports, but refuse to do
so around dangerous, ignorant people.
