| What does it do I looked on the Crosman website and it said it MAY make your gun more accurate, that doesn't sound very reassuring, only advantage I could see was it has a dove tail for optics. What is the advantage of getting the steel breech other than that, or would one be better off spending the 10 bucks on mounts instead of the 30 for the kit? |

| The steel breech keeps the barrel better retained- which on a stock 2240 is essentially meaningless- but on a 2240 with an 14", 18" or 24" barrel- it becomes much more relevant as a longer barrel with a plastic breech tends to move around if the barrel gets tapped- too much pivoting for the plastic breech to be able to deal with. |

| So its really no benifit other than the dovetail until I put on a longer barrel? |

| You get dovetails, yes. It will indeed hold the barrel more securely (especially with the long breech). It should work more smoothly, for two reasons: One, it won't flex under the pressure of the screws (the plastic breech on my 2240 does this). Two, a machined block of metal has to be more precisely made than two plastic castings snapped together. Plus, IMO it looks better. |
